Year 2 Students Bring Learning to Life with Stop Motion Animation

During Term 2, Week 5, Year 2 students at Xavier College’s Two Wells Campus participated in a creative and hands-on incursion with GooRoo Animations, linking directly to their iTime studies.

As part of their learning, students had been researching animals and their habitats, using digital technology to design detailed backdrops reflecting each creature’s environment. They then applied this knowledge to write informative texts, incorporating topic-specific vocabulary to showcase their understanding.

In the workshop, students worked in pairs to sculpt their chosen animals from Plasticine and brought them to life through the magic of Stop Motion animation. The session was an exciting opportunity for students to combine creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills in a unique and engaging way.

A special highlight of the experience was sharing their completed films with classmates and families—a proud celebration of their learning journey and creative achievements.
