An exciting opportunity is now available for a Financial Accountant to join our expanding, multi-campus College in a permanent, full-time position under direction of the Finance Manager, commencing January 2025.
In this role, you will form part of an integral team, working closely with all members of Finance to ensure the effective management of the College’s financial operations. You will assist the Finance Manager with a variety of accounting duties and aid in supporting key functional areas of the College including Out of School Hours Care (OSHC), Canteen and Uniform Services, and the planning of the College’s finances, including budgeting, auditing, and analysing both operating and capital works plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end balance sheet and other reconciliations
- Run and distribute month-end actual vs. budget reports to budget owners
- Analyse and generate financial reports, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system
- Prepare monthly BAS, annual FBT returns, and other tax compliance documents as required
- Ensure that all funds, including investments, are effectively managed and in compliance with College and sector policies
- Assist in the renewal of the College’s annual insurance policies, including work cover and claims management
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of college fees to families
- Assist with fee collection and report to the College Accounts Manager
- Prepare and submit salary claims and reimbursements
- Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of the annual budget, including staffing, curriculum, and facilities
- Liaise with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for the annual audit
- Ensure compliance with government legislation, including BAS, PAYG, and FBT reporting
- Work collaboratively with members of the Finance team to ensure the College’s financial health, compliance, and long-term sustainability

What you need to be successful
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent
- Strong understanding of financial and taxation legislation relevant to business and payroll management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and trust
- 1-2 years demonstrated experience with finance/accounting software and systems (desirable)
- Knowledge of CESA finance and accounting processes (highly desirable)
