Year 11 Biology Students Explore Evolution and Biodiversity at Adelaide Zoo
Recently, our Year 11 Biology students took their learning beyond the classroom with an excursion to the Adelaide Zoo as part of their studies into evolution and biodiversity.
Throughout the visit, students explored the relationships between organisms and their environments, examining the adaptations that enable different species to survive and thrive. By observing a diverse range of animals, students gained valuable insights into the processes that drive evolution and shape the natural world.
The excursion also provided an opportunity to investigate the importance of biodiversity and the vital role conservation plays in protecting vulnerable and endangered species. Through these real-world examples, students developed a deeper understanding of the challenges facing wildlife and the efforts being made to preserve ecosystems for future generations.
Supporting their studies in Science as a Human Endeavour, the experience helped students make meaningful connections between classroom theory and contemporary scientific issues. It was a valuable and engaging learning opportunity that reinforced key biological concepts while highlighting the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship.
