Students Connect with Culture Through Native Food Program

Senior students from the Gawler Belt and Two Wells campuses recently took part in an inspiring Native Food and Culture Program incursion, proudly sponsored by EM-power and facilitated by Rebecca Sullivan, owner of native food company Warndu and author of Warndu Mai (Good Food): Introducing Native Australian Ingredients to Your Kitchen.

The interactive workshop gave students the opportunity to explore native Australian ingredients, develop their own food brands, and build meaningful connections to culture through storytelling. Guided by Rebecca, the students created a diverse range of products, including cookies, lip balms, natural deodorants, body scrubs, and candles — each inspired by the beauty and richness of native ingredients.

The program not only encouraged creativity and innovation but also deepened students’ understanding of sustainability, cultural heritage, and the importance of caring for Country.

A heartfelt thank you to EM-power and Rebecca Sullivan for sharing your expertise and inspiring our students to celebrate culture through food, creativity, and community.
