Nunga Club Celebrates a Year of Culture, Connection, and Community
Xavier College recently celebrated an incredible year with our Nunga Club students from Years 7 to 12, bringing together students from both the Two Wells and Gawler Belt campuses for a meaningful cultural experience.
To mark the occasion, students visited the Yitpi Yartapuultiku Cultural Centre in Port Adelaide, where Kaurna Elder Uncle Moogy warmly welcomed the group to Country and spent the day sharing his knowledge, stories, and wisdom. His presence created a strong sense of connection and pride, making the day deeply meaningful for all involved.
Students were also privileged to learn from renowned Ngarrindjeri weaver Amanda Westley, who shared her cultural knowledge and inspired students through her beautiful weaving practice. Guided by her expertise, students engaged in hands-on creative activities, painting footballs, basketballs, and boomerangs, each piece reflecting individual expression and cultural respect.
The day concluded with everyone sharing a meal together, reinforcing the strong sense of community that defines Nunga Club.
This celebration was a fitting way to recognise the learning, friendships, and cultural connections formed throughout the year. We are proud of our Nunga Club students and grateful to all who support this important program.
