New Barista Training Program Launches at Xavier College
Last week marked the exciting launch of a new Barista Training Program at Xavier College, providing students with hands-on experience and valuable pathways into the hospitality industry.
This initiative is deeply connected to the legacy of Reto Gasser, a former Xavier College Food and Hospitality teacher who served the College from 2004 to 2015. Reto was a highly respected professional chef with international experience and a strong passion for sharing his craft. He took great pride in mentoring students and guiding them toward excellence, leaving a lasting impact on hospitality education at the College.
Thanks to Reto’s generous donation, Xavier College has been able to invest in two fully equipped barista training stations, allowing students to train with industry-standard equipment in an authentic learning environment. The program offers students practical skills, confidence, and insight into potential careers in hospitality.
A group of 25 Year 10 students completed the training last week at the Gawler Belt Campus, with a further 25 Year 10 students from Two Wells set to undertake the course early next year.
This program is a wonderful opportunity for our students and a meaningful way to honour Reto’s legacy, ensuring his passion for hospitality and education continues to inspire future generations at Xavier College.
