Jessica Simons Named STEMM Educator of the Year
Jessica Simons was honored with the STEMM Educator of the Year (Primary/Secondary) Award at the 2024 South Australian Science Excellence and Innovation Awards, marking a high point in her commitment to transforming STEMM education.
Formerly of Trinity College, Jessica joined Xavier College earlier this year as Head of Digital Learning, bringing her expertise in interdisciplinary and ethical technology education to the school.
Her leadership in immersive technologies, including her work on the VR in Schools Study, has already influenced classrooms across Australia. This study, recently published in the South Australian Science Teachers Association Journal, is changing how students engage with STEMM concepts, helping them explore virtual worlds with a focus on real-world applications.
Jessica’s approach to AI education is another standout, providing students with a deep understanding of AI’s power and ethical boundaries. With Xavier College undergoing major developments, including expansions at Gawler Belt and Two Wells, Jessica’s expertise in digital learning arrives at a perfect moment.
