Recently, our Creative Arts students from the Gawler Belt and Two Wells campuses enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Monet to Matisse exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia, where they explored an extraordinary collection of paintings and prints from some of the world’s most celebrated artists.

During a guided tour of the exhibition, students examined a range of artworks and gained valuable insight into the techniques, styles, and artistic movements that influenced these masterpieces. The experience encouraged students to think critically about the creative choices made by artists and the ways in which art can communicate ideas and emotions.

Back at school, students put their learning into practice through a fast-paced painting activity inspired by the plein air approach used by many of the artists featured in the exhibition. Working against the clock, they experimented with techniques observed during their visit and embraced the challenge of quickly capturing a scene, just as many of the master artists once did.

The excursion provided a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with world-renowned artworks while developing their own artistic skills in a hands-on and creative way.
