City Excursion Builds Confidence and Real World Skills

Students from the Gawler Belt and Two Wells campuses recently travelled into the heart of Adelaide for a hands-on learning experience designed to build independence and real-world skills.

The day began with a train journey from Gawler, offering students a chance to develop confidence in navigating public transport. Once in the city, they explored some of Adelaide’s most iconic locations, including the Adelaide Oval, Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Museum, and Art Gallery.

Using the free City Connector bus, students learned how to read maps, follow timetables, and understand how different modes of transport connect across the city. A highlight of the day was lunch at the Myer Centre food court, where students demonstrated independence by budgeting, handling money, and making decisions in a bustling environment.

More than just a sightseeing trip, the excursion supported students in developing practical life skills, while also strengthening the connection between campuses.

Well done to all students for approaching the day with confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm!
