Reconciliation Week 2025

Xavier College has commemorated National Reconciliation Week with a series of meaningful events and activities across all campuses, encouraging students and staff to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and the ongoing journey towards reconciliation.

Held annually from 27 May to 3 June, Reconciliation Week invites all Australians to explore how they can contribute to a more just, equitable, and unified nation. At Xavier College, the week began with a strong focus on education, connection, and cultural appreciation.

Students engaged in a variety of activities throughout the week, including collaborative artwork, craft projects, and yarning circles, providing spaces to listen, learn, and share stories. The handprint artwork created on National Sorry Day, now displayed proudly across campuses, stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect.

A special highlight of the week was welcoming Elaine Magias, who delivered a heartfelt Welcome to Country at each campus. We thank Elaine for generously sharing her time, culture, and wisdom with our community.

Throughout the week, students also had the opportunity to participate in workshops such as didgeridoo playing, interactive immersive spaces, key ring crafting, and enjoyed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-themed donuts, each activity contributing to a deeper understanding of First Nations culture and history.

Reconciliation Week at Xavier College served as an important reminder of our shared responsibility to walk together towards a future grounded in truth, respect, and meaningful action.
