Gawler Belt Campus Celebrates Italian Day 2026

The Gawler Belt Campus embraced the spirit of Italian culture with Italian Day, providing students with a wonderful opportunity to explore Italian traditions, food, and community.

A highlight of the celebrations was a visit from Mattia’s Pizza, where Year 9 students participated in a hands-on pizza-making workshop. Students learned the art of creating authentic wood-fired pizzas, gaining insight into traditional Italian cooking techniques before enjoying the delicious results of their efforts.

The day also featured a variety of cultural activities, including a Briscola tournament, where students tested their skills in the popular Italian card game, and Venetian mask making, which allowed students to explore a creative aspect of Italian history and culture.

Through these experiences, students were able to deepen their understanding of Italian traditions while engaging in meaningful and enjoyable learning opportunities outside the classroom.

A special thank you to Mattia for sharing his expertise, passion, and love of Italian cuisine with our students and helping make the day such a memorable experience. Italian Day was a fantastic celebration of culture and a wonderful way to bring classroom learning to life.
