Agriculture Students Experience the Journey from Tree to Table
Late last term, our Agriculture students experienced the full journey of olive oil production, from harvesting olives on campus to producing their very own olive oil.
After carefully picking olives from the College’s olive trees, students followed the process through to production, gaining valuable insight into how one of Australia’s most widely used food products is made. Once their olive oil was ready, students put it to the test in a taste comparison against a range of store-bought olive oils, exploring differences in flavour, colour, aroma, and quality.
We extend our thanks to Prema Bros for processing our olives and helping bring this authentic learning experience to life.
The project doesn’t end there. Students are now preparing to enter their olive oil into competition at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show, providing an exciting opportunity to showcase the results of their hard work and learning.
We look forward to following their journey and wish them the very best of luck in the competition.
